Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Michelle Daniel Willis of Bellevue has received the Francine J. Lagrass Todd Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Willis will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This scholarship was established in memory of Francine J. LaGrass Todd, a BGSU Firelands professor from 2004-2006. After a career in healthcare as a radiologic technologist as well as vice president/director of human resources at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, Ohio, Todd returned to teaching, which she dearly loved. She was the interim program director for the radiologic technology program. This scholarship was initiated by her family, with the support of relatives and friends, in recognition of her professional prominence, her desire to give back to her community and her dedication in the fields of radiologic technology and education.

Willis is a 2009 graduate of Bellevue High School where she graduated with honors. She was involved with Teens Against Tobacco Use, Peer Assistance Leadership Service, choir, and competition cheerleading.

She is a junior majoring in radiology at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Brian and Shawn Willis of Bellevue.

Castalia resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kaylen Mary Fultz of Castalia has received the Frank A. and Anna I. McBride Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Fultz will receive $971 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This endowed award was given by Dr. James H. and Mrs. Margaret B. McBride in memory of Dr. McBride’s parents, Frank A. and Anna I. McBride.

Fultz is a 2011 graduate of Margaretta High School where she was a varsity track letter winner, was psychology student of the nine weeks, sociology student of the nine weeks, government student of the nine weeks, Elks Student of the Month and she received a merit award. She was also active in track, band, and choir.

She is a freshman majoring in radiologic technology at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Kevin and Christina Fultz of Castalia.

Marblehead resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Jennifer Marie Lenthe of Marblehead has received the Frank Leake Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Lenthe will receive $600 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This award is funded by memorial contributions from the family, friends and colleagues of the late Dr. Frank Leake and is available to students in the registered nurse to bachelor of science in nursing program.

Lenthe is a 1994 graduate of Port Clinton High School.

She is a senior majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

She is married to Steven Lenthe of Marblehead and she is the daughter of Tom and Lyla Higgins of Port Clinton.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Crystal Starr Schneider of Huron has received the Mack Snyder Rau Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Schneider will receive $762 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was given in memory of Mack Snyder Rau by Alice W. Rau, David A. Rau and Norman D. Rau. The scholarship is made available to students pursuing a bachelor of liberal studies degree who are from Erie County.

Schneider is a 1999 graduate of Oscoda Area High School.

She is a junior majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Ron G. Hile II of Sandusky has received the Murray and Murray Charitable Foundation Scholarship at BGSU Firelands. Hile will receive $2,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Established in 2007 by the Murray and Murray Foundation, this award is available to residents of Erie County with preference given to graduates of an Erie County high school.

Hile is a 2001 graduate of Sandusky High School. After graduating he volunteered as a varsity football coach at Sandusky Central Catholic School.

He is a senior majoring in education at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Ron Hile of Sandusky and Kathy McGlothen of Middletown.

Huron, Ohio – Samuel Robert Mayer of Sandusky has received the NBC Universal – Buckeye CableSystem Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Mayer will receive $786 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This variable scholarship is available to students who reside in Erie County and are graduates or candidates for graduation from any high school in Erie County.

Mayer is a 2011 graduate of Sandusky High School where he was a top ten senior and was also inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.

He is a freshman majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Robert Mayer Jr. of Sandusky.
