Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Hannah Lynn DeBlase of Bellevue has received an anonymously-funded scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. DeBlase will receive $2,500 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This award was established in 2001 by an anonymous donor. Awards are available to both full- and part-time students. Need is a factor.

DeBlase is a 2012 graduate of Bellevue High School where she was involved in volleyball, softball, Student Council, Key Club, and National Honor Society. While in school she earned several awards and honors including the Elks’ Academic Award, the Woodmen of the World History Award, the Scholar-Athlete Award, an Award of Merit, and an Award of Educational Achievement, she was the Americanism contest winner, on the honor roll, and earned an academic letter.

She is a junior majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.

She is the daughter of Vince and Diane DeBlase of Bellevue.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Samantha Marie Clonch of Sandusky has received an anonymously-funded scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Clonch will receive $2,500 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This award was established in 2001 by an anonymous donor. Awards are available to both full- and part-time students. Need is a factor.

Clonch is a 2012 graduate of Perkins High School where she earned an academic varsity letter and two pins, a band varsity letter and three pins, the President’s Award for Academic Excellence, and an honors diploma. She was active in National Honor Society, marching band, solo and ensemble competitions, and school plays. While in high school she was a member of Teen Library Corps at the Sandusky Library.

She is a sophomore working towards an associate of science at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List. Her community service efforts include volunteering in the Sandusky Library Archives.

She is the daughter of Ken and Tammy Clonch of Sandusky.

Berlin Heights resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Hannah Rae Leber of Berlin Heights has received the Dr. George F. Linn Outstanding Teacher Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Leber will receive $1,564 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This scholarship, in memory of Dr. George F. Linn, prominent educator who taught in Huron and Erie counties, is available to recipients interested in the teaching profession. This scholarship is awarded to a valedictorian, salutatorian, or like meritorious scholar who expresses an interest in math and science. A recommendation from an area school administrator is required for this scholarship.

Leber is a 2013 graduate of Edison High School where she was on the honor roll, was named Student of the Quarter twice, and she was inducted into the National French Honor Society. While in high school she was a member of the EHOVE Numeracy Team.

She is a sophomore majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Howard and Sandra Leber.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Patty Jean Quinn of Norwalk has received the Huron County Medical Auxiliary Endowment Fund for Health Careers Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Quinn will receive $1,254 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This scholarship, established by the former Huron County Medical Auxiliary, is awarded annually to a Huron County resident who is majoring in a health career, excluding psychology. Freshman and continuing students pursuing studies on a full- or part-time basis are eligible. Financial need is a priority for consideration.

Quinn is a 1988 graduate of Idabel High School, Idabel, Okla.

She is a junior majoring in diagnostic medical sonography at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.

She is married to Leroy Quinn of Norwalk.

Willard resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Beth Ann Shade of Willard has received the Ruth Frost Parker Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Shade will receive $1,296 towards tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This endowed scholarship is available to both full- and part-time, non-traditional students.

Shade is a 2011 graduate of Seneca East High School.

She is a junior majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.

She is the daughter of Danny and Barbara Shade.
