Crooks Awarded BGSU Community Service Award

Huron, Ohio – At Bowling Green State University Firelands College’s annual Recognition Program on April 19, local businesswoman Darlene Crooks from Label Aid Inc., Huron, was awarded the 2013 Community Service Award.
The Community Service award is given to an individual or organization from the community who has, in an extraordinary manner, participated in the growth, development, or promotion of BGSU Firelands and the Firelands community.
Crooks is the president and manager of Label Aid and has been with the company for more than 20 years. Label Aid is a family owned and operated flexographic and digital printing company which has served customers world wide since 1984.
Crooks, an active member of the BGSU Firelands Visual Communication Technology Advisory Board, and Label Aid have a strong history of supporting BGSU Firelands student education and employment.
Annually, Label Aid hosts several student field trips to the production facility which provides a unique opportunity for the student to observe a graphic development operation and broaden their knowledge in the field.
More importantly, Label Aid is active in the VCT internship and coop program and each year works with BGSU Firelands students to provide practical and valuable work experience. Two former interns are also currently employed by Label Aid.
Crooks and Label Aid also generously donate to BGSU Firelands. In addition to monetary contributions, the company also provides materials and labor to assist students in classroom projects.
According to the nominator, “Darlene Crooks and Label Aid have been very accommodating and unselfishly give of their time and resources to help our students.”
