Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Abigail Eleanor Snyder of Norwalk has received the Citizens Banking Company Scholarship to attend
Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Snyder will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2012-2013  academic year.

This award is available to students who are enrolled on either a full- or part-time basis. Students who demonstrate need and reside in the Citizens Banking Company’s marketing area are given special consideration for this award.

Snyder is a 2010 graduate of Norwalk High School and Ehove Career Center. While in high school she was on the honor roll and inducted into the National Technical Honor Society and the National Honors Society. She earned several awards including an American Citizenship Award, Most Valuable Lab Student, Student of the Semester, Student of the Nine Weeks and an honors diploma.

She is a junior majoring in computer sciences at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List twice.

She is the daughter of Paul and Janice Snyder of Norwalk.

Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Hannah Lynn DeBlase of Bellevue has received the Huron County Medical Auxiliary Endowment Fund for Health Careers Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. DeBlase will receive $2,510 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.

This scholarship, established by the former Huron County Medical Auxiliary, is awarded annually to a Huron County resident who is majoring in a health career excluding psychology. Freshman and continuing students pursuing studies on a full- or part-time basis are eligible. Financial need is a priority for consideration.

DeBlase is a 2012 graduate of Bellevue Senior High School where she participated in volleyball, softball, student council, Key Club, and National Honor Society. While in high school she earned several awards and honors including the Elks’ Academic Award, the Woodmen of the World History Award, three academic letters, the Scholar-Athlete Award, an Award of Merit, the Award of Educational Achievement. She was on the honor roll throughout high school and she was the Americanism contest winner.

She is an entering freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Vince and Diane DeBlase of Bellevue.

Willard resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kaley Leeann Montgomery of Willard has received the Janell J. Graves Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Montgomery will receive $1,038 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was established in 2004 by the Jan and Michele Graves family. The recipient must enroll at BGSU Firelands within one year of high school and have graduated from a high school in Erie, Huron, or Ottawa
counties. Entering freshman must have at least a 3.2 GPA and returning college students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to a freshman, but traditional age sophomores will also be considered. Recipients must be actively
involved in outside activities either on campus or within the community.

Montgomery is a 2012 graduate of South Central High School where she was inducted into the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. While in high school she was on the honor roll.

She is an entering freshman majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Sheri McClain.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Cindy Marie Duraj of Sandusky has received the Leon and Susan Cross Book Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Duraj will receive $500 towards text books for the 2012-2013 academic year.

This award is available to students who reside in Erie, Huron, or Ottawa counties and are majoring in biological or physical science. Both full- and part-time students are eligible to receive this book scholarship.

Duraj is a 2003 graduate of Huron High School.

She is a sophomore majoring in biology at BGSU Firelands.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kimmie L. Creque of Huron has received the Mack Snyder Rau Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Creque will receive $763 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.

This endowed scholarship was given in memory of Mack Snyder Rau by Alice W. Rau, David A. Rau and Norman D. Rau. The scholarship is made available to students pursuing a bachelor of liberal studies degree who are from Erie County. Both freshman and continuing students are eligible. A “C+” average, school and community activities, and financial need are considerations for this award.

Creque is a 1977 graduate of Elgin High School, Marion.

She is a sophomore majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List and received the Building Blocks to the Future Award. She served as president of the Women’s Resource Group and she is active with the Science and Enviornmental Club and the Bibliophiles.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Yuerong Bayer of Sandusky has received the Ruth Frost Parker Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Bayer will receive $1,259 towards tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year.

This endowed scholarship is available to both full- and part-time, nontraditional students who reside in Erie County.

Bayer is a 2005 graduate of Yangpu High School, Shanghai.

She is a sophomore majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.
