Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Jarod M. Mariani of Sandusky has received the Caryl Crane Scholarship for the Performing Arts to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Mariani will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This award is available to a full-time student who resides in Erie, Huron, or Ottawa counties and who is actively involved or enrolled in theatre arts classes.

Mariani is a 2010 graduate of Perkins High School where he was a DECCA Chapter officer and he received several awards at the DECCA District Competition. He was a Drama Club officer and received the 2009-2010 Best Actor Award and the 2009-2010 Best New Thespian Member Award. While in high school he was involved in football, Model UN, choir, Y.E.S., Caryl Crane Children’s Theatre, Harlequin’s Community Theatre, Misfitz Improv Group, Huron Playhouse, and Zion Lutheran Church Youth Group.

He is a sophomore majoring in education and theatre at BGSU Firelands where has been on the Dean’s List, is involved with the Caryl Crane Children’s Theatre, and has received the BGSU Firelands 2010-2011 Outstanding Actor Award.

He is the son of Mike and Lisa Mariani of Sandusky.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Bryanna Marie Bauman of Huron has received the Dr. Ronald M. Ruble Theatre Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Bauman will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This scholarship is awarded to a student who is actively working in theatre technical work and theatre course work in the Firelands College Theatre and the Caryl Crane Children’s Theatre.

Bauman is a 2011 graduate of Edison High School where she was involved in Drama Club, band, pep band, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, volleyball, track, speech, and debate. She received numerous honors such as the President’s Education Award, an Award of Merit, an honors dipolma, Best Thespian Award three times, and earned letters in academics, track, drama, and speech.

She is a freshman majoring in theatrical design at BGSU Firelands where she is involved with the Speech Activities Organization-Theatre.

She is the daughter of Bryan and Agnes Bauman of Huron.

Huron, Ohio – Dorian L. Evans of Sandusky has received the Dr. Ronald M. Ruble Theatre Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Evans will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This scholarship is awarded to a student who is actively working in theatre technical work and theatre course work in the Firelands College Theatre and the Caryl Crane Children’s Theatre.

Evans is a 1996 graduate of Sandusky High School.

She is a senior majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands where she is involved with First Book and the Firelands College Theatre.

She is married to Rio Evans of Sandusky.

Milan resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Cody Derrick Noon of Milan has received the Harlequins Founders’ Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Noon will receive $500 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Provided by the Harlequins Community Theatre of Sandusky, this award is available to an outstanding and deserving student who is a major or minor in theatre or a communications major currently involved with the Firelands College Theatre productions.

Noon is a 2009 graduate of Edison High School where he was named Honor Thespian, National Honor Thespian, received the Outstanding Actor Award, the Tennis Coaches Award, and he was inducted into the National Honor Society and the Interantional Thespian Society.

He is a junior majoring in theatre at BGSU Firelands where he has been involved in Speech Activities Organization-Theatre.

To receive this merit award, a candidate must have at least a 3.0 GPA, demonstrated a willingness to share his or her talents with the school and community, exhibit a high standard of personal control and responsibility, and be able to demonstrate a capacity to provide direction and guidance in activities.

Huron, Ohio – Kristen Elizabeth Taylor of Sandusky has received the Sandusky High School Vocational and Technical Student of the Year Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Taylor will receive $1,500 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Each year BGSU Firelands awards scholarships to the student of the year, the first runner up, and the second runner up, to recognize them for their outstanding accomplishments in high school.

Taylor is a 2011 graduate of Sandusky High School where she was inducted into the National Technical Honors Society and was Student of the Month.

She is a freshman majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of John Taylor Sr. and Jennifer Caposell of Sandusky.

Clyde resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Hailey Danielle Tyree of Clyde has received the William J. Parker Family Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Tyree will receive a contribution towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Tyree is a 2010 graduate of Bellevue High School where she was on the honor roll and had perfect attendance. While in high school she was active in band and she painted a school mural.

She is a sophomore majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands. While in college she has been working as a state-tested nursing assistant.

She is the daughter of Daniel Tyree and Angella Endicott of Clyde.

Bellevue resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Jeremy Paul Dutko of Bellevue has received the William J. Parker Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Dutko will receive $1,502 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Dutko is a 2011 graduate of Bellevue High School where he was involved in French Club, Key Club and tennis.

He is a freshman at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Christina Walczak of Bellevue.
