BGSU Firelands students receive scholarships

Castalia resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kaylen Mary Fultz of Castalia has received the Firelands Positive People Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Fultz will receive $750 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Each year the Firelands Positive People organization hosts a Positive Living Award breakfast. During the award program, BGSU Firelands awards at least one student who is planning to attend BGSU Firelands. This award is in recognition of the adversity the recipient has overcome.

Fultz is a 2011 graduate of Margaretta High School where she earned varsity letters for academics, track, band, and choir. She received a merit award, a perfect attendance award, and was named student of the nine weeks on multiple occasions. While in high school she was active in band, choir, track, Buckeye Girls State, and was an alter server.

She is a freshman majoring in radiologic technology at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Kevin and Christina Fultz of Castalia.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Katherine Anne Parker of Norwalk has received the Firelands Positive People Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Parker will receive $750 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Parker is a 2011 graduate of St. Paul High School where she was on the honor roll, earned an academic letter, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. While in high school she was involved in Key Club, Folk Group, academic challenge, concert band and she was a server for mass.

She is a freshman majoring in English literature at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Benjamin and Anne Parker of Norwalk.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Isabella Margaret Rohrbacher of Sandusky has received the Firelands Positive People Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Rohrbacher will receive $750 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Rohrbacher is a 2011 graduate of St. Mary’s High School where she was all academic SBC in volleyball and cheerleading. She was the 2011 Model UN Council vice president. While in high school she was involved in National Honor Society, Key Club, International Club, volleyball, cheerleading, track, and softball.

She is a freshman majoring in early childhood education with a focus on special education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Brian and Margaret Rohrbacher of Sandusky.

Huron resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Jennifer Diane Brummett of Huron has received the Frost-Parker Foundation Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Brummett will receive $762 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This endowed award is available to students who are enrolled on either a full-time or part-time basis.

Brummett is a 1996 graduate of Sandusky High School. In her personal life she has been involved with FOSEA.

She is a senior majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands where she has been on the Dean’s List.

She is married to Douglas Brummett of Huron and she is the daughter of James Haer and Katheryn West of Port Clinton.

Huron, Ohio- Nestor Rave of Sandusky has received the Frost-Parker Foundation Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Rave will receive $762 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This endowed award is available to students who are enrolled on either a full-time or part-time basis.

Rave is a 1980 graduate of Salazar y Herrera High School.

He is a senior majoring in liberal studies at BGSU Firelands where he has been involved with the History Club and he has been a Spanish tutor.

He is the son of Roberto and Aurora Rave.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Nicole Marie Lieber of Norwalk has received the John F. and Doris H. Ernsthausen Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Lieber will receive $1,418 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Two scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors of either Norwalk or St. Paul high schools. Academic achievement of a level promising success in college is the chief qualification.

Lieber is a 2011 graduate of St. Paul High School where she earned four academic letters, an ACE Award and was named student of the month. While in high school she was active in Key Club, National Honor Society, cheerleading, volleyball, and basketball. She was also a student ambassador, Eucharistic minister, and mass coordinator.

She is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Alan Lieber and Sue Sprague of Norwalk.

She is a freshman majoring in graphic design at BGSU Firelands.

Sandusky resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – James Frederick Pankow of Sandusky has received the Kiwanis Club of Sandusky Bay – Perkins Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Pankow will receive $448 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This endowed award is available to full-time sophomores who are graduates of Sandusky, St. Mary’s Central Catholic, Perkins, Huron or Margaretta high schools.

Pankow is a 2009 graduate of Sandusky High School where he was inducted into the National Honor Society, earned an honors diploma and two varsity academic award. While in high school he participated in track and wrestling.  Awards that he won include four years of perfect attendance, the Erie County Chamber of Commerce Award of Achievement, Scholastic Art Show awards, the College Prep Award of Merit, the Principal’s Award, and the Sandusky High School Service Award.

He is a junior majoring in microbiology at BGSU Firelands where he has been on the Dean’s List.

He is the son of Mark and Deborah Pankow of Sandusky.

Comparette is a 2010 graduate of Perkins High School where she was inducted into National Honor Society, was on the honor roll, and earned two academic letters. She was also involved in Aim for Excellence, student council, Pirates for Peers, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

She is a sophomore majoring in early childhood education at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of William and Cindy Comparette of Sandusky.

Milan resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Kylene Marie Williams of Milan has received the Milan Chamber of Commerce Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Williams will receive $1,000 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

This scholarship is awarded to a student who is a graduate or candidate for graduation from Edison High School.

Williams is a 2011 graduate of Edison High School where she was on the honor roll, merit roll, and earned an academic letter. While in high school she participated in track, volleyball, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Key Club, Spanish Club, Chargerettes, FTMC Autism camp, art club, and National Honor Society.

She is a freshman majoring in nursing at BGSU Firelands.

She is the daughter of Peter and Emily Williams of Milan.

Norwalk resident receives scholarship to attend BGSU Firelands

Huron, Ohio – Andrew P. Montana of Norwalk has received the Robert W. Traver Memorial Scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University Firelands College. Montana will receive $929 towards tuition for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Established in memory of the former Sandusky chief of police and chief of security for Mr. Wiggs Department Stores, Inc., this scholarship is available to students who reside in the City of Sandusky. Sons and daughters of police officers are accorded preference.

Montana is a 1983 graduate of Morton West High School.

He is a junior majoring in criminal justice at BGSU Firelands.

He is the son of Jack and Georgia Montana of Stickney, IL.
