First and foremost let’s start by defining the term NEW which is rocking every young adult mind whenever we talk about technology. To my understanding new technology can mean any improvement made at an existing tech.To strongly support my idea I decided to take an interview with an older person who has seen several evolution of technology. My first person who came to my mind was my uncle who works with a renowned ICT company in my town. I choose to use a telephone conversation interview. When I called him and ask him whether he was willing to share some past information concerning technology he was surprised. He was surprised because no one had ever asked him such questions. He agreed to share the information he knew with me but this was to happen after work. Below is the part of interview which I had with him.
I started by asking the most obvious question of how was communication back then compared to today. He laughed before giving his answer, then he continued, as you know nowadays communication is very simple, fast and more convenience compared to the past. In the past there was nothing like the internet connection. Internet just emerged the other day and has flooded in our societies. Everywhere you go and everything you do has to have internet connection. Try to imagine a situation without internet, how will transaction go on. You know in the past there was nothing like goggle or facebook those has just been innovated recently to enhance communication. It is hard to try and compare today’s tech and that of the past. As nowadays technology has evolved very much. During my youth I never had something like ‘Xbox’ those has come in the last decade. We used to have no computer games in our time noting that also owning a computer box was considered as a mighty of the mighty. During our time people used to type their letter using type writers which were only available in the government offices, not like today you can edit copy and paste a letter.
When it came to communication we used to queue wherever there was a telephone booth. By then there was no mobile phones. I can remember very well the first wireless phone could hardly be used over a mile away. But those phones were very expensive to obtain. Then it cams the mobile phones which were big in size and as the technology kept changing smaller and less bulk mobile phones were innovated. A very go example is today’s mobile phones which are smaller in size but more complicated, composing of over 100 applications. Also the innovation of I pad which are replacing the laptop which had earlier replaced the desktops
So the conversation was very interesting and finally he said, the technology has evolved in many phases right from those days when I was a school boy kid. To add taste on that I can say that the more innovation we have the more we will continue to get because discovery of one thing will led to discovery of another one.
