FInal Building

June 27, 2009

For this build me and Adam went for a building that showed our abilities in second life. Building in the round or in a circular pattern is what I consider as the hardest to pull off in second life do to the lack of tools presented. However it is possible to pull off and I used this build as an example of the amount of detail that can be duplicated and arranged to allow an interesting look and to allow a simplistic idea at the same time. The rooms themselves are very open making it easy for the avatar to navigate yet at the same time there is alot going on with the see through floors that allow you to see the pattern on the floors below no matter what level you are on. The first floor was made for vehicles and there accesories with a wide door for easy exiting and entrance while the second and third floors are made for female and male clothing attire complete with changing rooms. Finally the fourth floor was created for accesories and other objects. Later on I plan to introduce an elevator in the middle of the building to implement easier travel from floor to floor and I plan on opening up thw walls some making it feel more open.

Tech Build

June 11, 2009

For my classroom I tried to keep the floor plan all together simple while having the decroations around the classroom more detailed and complex. Going with a tech style in mind I kept the colors simple to match the already surrounding buildings. Then I left a center platform for the teacher to stand and illustrate his paint or to give lectures. The seats themselves fade of to the side of the stage forcing the user to use his camera to disconnect from their avatar and to become more personal and detached from there personal in game representation. However after some critique I have decided to rearrange the platforms making all of the seats face the center platform.

Day Two

May 29, 2009

Time was given to continue working on our work spaces. My cave was coming along nicely and I can almost dwell into the depths of it too keep my dragon riches inside. It is interesting watching the other people construct there own works in real time . More properties were introduced on the shaping of our objects and a new landmark was explored that had tutorials that will advance our building abilities allowing me to change my work space into a more complex structure the next time I visit second life.

Day One

May 29, 2009

First Day of class, reviewed the basics. The class assembled in our private construction zone and introduced ourselves to each other by creating profiles on our avatars. Then the shapes were introduced followed by instructions on how to mold shape and control our objects in space to create the beginning of what would be considered our workspace. After uploading my alternate identity I was free to leave the world of second life.
