Final Blog

I have never blogged, at least not consistently, so this experience was new to me. I feel that blogging is a good way to get information to a ot of people and could be a great tool to use in my future classroom, if it could be allowed. I would love the chance to get to use them in other classes in my BGSU journey. I’m kind of reserved, so I’m not so sure I would blog abut my personal life, but blogging has shaped my literacy in so many ways. Using technology, writing, reading, anlogical thinking were all used in the blog process.

1. Should I include background information about the assignment that led to the creation of the lesson plan?

2. What else can I reflect on about my lesson plan that is not necessarily education related?

3. I am a little concerned about using a lesson plan because this is my first sample of making my own lesson plan.

4. I am not sure whether to re-see or re-present my literacy.

5. Should the value of this literacy be the focus of the reflection?

For the re-seeing assignment, I am going to demonstrate my literacy in the form of a lesson plan and then reflect on it. I feel this kind of assignment is very useful because it asks us to yet again consider new things as literacy and actually dig deeper into different literacy. By demonstrating my literacy in education through a lesson plan, the value in the knowledge I have gained in my education classes can be applied to literacy.

Final Project Proposal

Eng 207

Spring 2009

Options 1 & 2 Focus

  1. For my final project I am going to focus on

Lesson Plan literacy because:

2. This is a literacy because: it takes prior knowledge to create in the education field.

3. Explain how you use/practice/demonstrate this literacy right now in your life right now (in other words, what role does the literacy in question one play in your life)? Right now lesson plans play a role in my education studies, and as a future teacher, will be an everyday part of my life and career.

4. Explain how this literacy might be used by others in their personal lives.  Explain how this literacy might be used by others in their professional lives. Lesson plans apply to educators, administrators, and students.

5. How do you see yourself using this literacy professionally?  As a high school language arts teacher. What need does this literacy meet that others cannot? Planning. In other words, what will this literacy do that others do not?

6. How do you plan to demonstrate your literacy? By creating a lesson plan.

7. What questions do you have about this project?

8.  Create a chronological list of the steps you will need to take to complete this project.  Then, set a time-line of when each step will be completed.  This will be a tentative contract between you and me to assure you’re making progress on this project.

Create lesson plan.

Consider literacy aspects.

Write the reflection.

My view of literacy was pretty single-minded when I first entered this course. I believed literacy as more of a written idea: the ability to read, write, and comprehend. Throughout the course, I have learned that the concept of literacy is much more complicated, and can include literacy in technology, rhetoric, and even professional documentss. I feel that my understanding of literacy has improved and progressed because of taking this class.

1. In the reflective intorduction, I want to outline my achievements that will be highlighted in my portfolio, and what I’ve learned through the assignments.

2. I want the reader to to see my visual narrative first, because this is the project that I am most proud of.

3. I would like to have one page per unit.

4. I want to include either a traditional paper or power point to introduce myself.

After reading what my reviewer wrote during peer review, I was reassured that I tailored by resume and cover letter to the job posting I selected. I did not receive any feedback about what could  be changed or altered, so I am not sure what I can improve on in my own work. I feel that the peer review would be more helpful if the improvement sections were filled out.

I forsee problems with the cover letter and resume because I do not yet have the requirements the company is looking for. I will need to discuss what I should do about the job I have selected so that I will be able to build a strong covwer letter and resume. I was interested in this job posting because of it’s requirement to have a Master’s in Library Science. I would love feedback from Brittany about what I should do to move forward.

The most important thing to my job ad is the qualifications that the company is looking for and whether or not I can meet the criteria. This is extremely important because if I don’t meet the requirements, I would not be a good candidate and would be wasting my time applying.

The company hires instructor for Davis College. They are looking to hire someone with education in Children’s Literature with Masters in Library Science. The company requests a resume. The website does not include other qualifications or values. A keyword I noted was the job code.

My understanding of a resume is a written platform to show your education and career achievements. A resume is a showcase of these items for a potential employer. Resumes should include and highlight any specifics in your job experience and education that would make you a great candidate for the job applied for. Beginning in high school, we were required to start learning how to create and maintain a resume. Later, in college classes, we continued to explore resumes and what features make them appealing and more importantly, effective. It was interesting to see how my resume has changed from high school to college; in high school my resume consisted of a lot less material that applies to my area of interest in a career than it does now.
