Week 15

All and all this semester has been absolutely nuts and stressful.  I’ve had two close family members die within this semester and have had a hard time finding time to complete things.  With this said, I have about a quarter of the editing done because I can only do it on campus.  This semester has definitely tested my time management and organization.  Honestly, this was the class that has suffered the most because a few other classes demanded time to do projects.  I’ve learned a lot this semester and I do hope to finish the project this coming week.  Hope everyone had a good semester and for those who are graduating, congratulations and good luck for the future.

Week 14

Well this semester has definitely tested my time constraints and sometimes things have been giving unfortunately.  I am currently on the editing process for my project but I have the voice over and the rest of the video elements all done.  I just need to find blocks of time to get these because I’m pretty sure I have to edit this on campus because my computer at home won’t be powerful enough to render out a 5 minute video in a timely manner ha ha. I’m excited to see the results and so is the Ronald McDonald House.  It will be a After Effects driven video which just takes time.

Week 12

This week was just too busy for me.  I was in Tiffin, OH; Dayton, OH; Brownstown, MI and still having to come back to Toledo.  Next week should be clear enough for me to get out to Toledo for the photo shoot.

Week 11

So this week was about the same as last week but I figured out the ways around it.  I am going to shoot the host in a location in Bowling Green and go to the Ronald McDonald House to take pictures and use those pictures in After Effects.  The trade off of using pictures instead of video is that the end result file size, but will longer editing time which I am fine with.  I should be able to take some pictures this coming week and set up a time to shoot and record the host.

Week 10

This Week was not good at all.  I had a meeting planned out but I could not go because I was basically broke and had only enough gas to get to work and no where else.  This coming week I seem to be in the same thing money wise.  I think I may have to find a way around this and get b roll shots later and just do the actual video around Bowling Green.  I have a good padding for editing time that is my cushion right now for time.

Week 9

This week for me was pretty bad.  I have everything in line as far as what is needed.  The problem was the person I am using the camera from, was not really available to try to coordinate to schedule a time to shoot the video.  I pretty much know how I want the whole video to go though.   Now it is a matter of coordinating times with everyone to get the production part over with and get into the post production phase.

Week 8

Not too much happened this week with fall break and homecoming going on.  I did get with my host to go over things to get a better idea of what will be necessary for the video.  I still need to schedule a time to meet with the client one more time though. I am little off schedule with scheduling shooting times but I still have time in my timeline to shoot.  So everything is still on schedule basically.

Week 7

This week was pretty busy for me.  I am half way done with the script I am doing for the video.  I am currently on vacation in Baltimore though.  This coming week I hope to finish it and have the meeting with the clients and my host for the video and reiterate the things needed in the video just to make sure we are still on the same page.

Week 6

This week was pretty hectic but I accomplished a few things.  I have a camera to use for the project.  I went to the ocTABer Fest for Ronald McDonald House at Owens Community College to shoot some B-Roll this past Saturday in which I was satisfied with the shots I took.  I have found a host that is willing to be on my video.  I also got to touch base with my client and I need to set up a meeting sometime this coming week in order to find out when I can shoot some B-roll / my video at the Ronald McDonald House in Toledo.  It always feels goo when you are in the production stage of video and you have an idea of where you are going.  So all and all I’m excited to be where I am now.

Week 5

This week was sort of a stale week.  I have not received a response from them yet and do not seem to get time to call.  I am gearing up for the October 1st shoot at Owens Community College for the Octtaber Fest. Once I hear about a host or get my potential person locked in I will be able to go forward.  Also this week was just working on Cost Analysis and talking to some videographers I know in order to find out good pricing. Although they are not paying me for this, this will help me later.

Week 4

This week I communicated to my client about my timeline created, what I need to still do and to confirm if they could find the host that they previously quoted for me.  I am still waiting for a response from them. I have a few leads on a camera to use.  Just need to solidify something soon.  I have figured out the color scheme that I want to use and the basic structure of the video.  I think the most pressing issues would be the host and the camera.  The camera issue is pretty obvious but the host issue is something I need to secure so I can write a script with them and cater the video to their strengths.  But all and all everything is going well so far.

Week 3

This week I took a step back and looked over the materials that were given to me.  They gave me a few pamphlets and a couple videos to look at to get an idea about where to start.  This is helping me get a foundation and to stir up ideas and concepts for the video.  I’m also considering giving them some storyboards of something similar so they can write off on things.  The only major concern I have at this point is making sure I have a camera to use.  I would prefer to own something instead of borrowing or renting something for the day.  But you have to do what you have to do.

Client Meeting

So I met with the people at Ronald McDonald House on Wednesday (8.31).  I got to tour the place and figure out what they are about.  It seems there problem is getting the public (Toledo, school, donators, sponsors etc.) aware of what they exactly do.  They want to produce a DVD for the office and at schools. They also want a video for their website.  They just want to address general awareness and awareness about their pull tab donations.

The place up there is really nice.  They have a large kitchen with lots of storage, living areas, kid play areas, and they have multiple set ups for video games as well.  It’s pretty amazing that they run basically all off of donations.  So all in all it was a good meeting and starting point.

Client Search

For my client search, I reviewed the list provided by our teacher.  I contacted the lady from the Ronald McDonald House.  She seemed to be very interested in working with me.  I will meet with her on Wednesday to discuss the particulars of what she needs and what I can do solve her problem.
