”’Randolph, Tennessee”’ is an [[unincorporated area|unincorporated]] rural community in [[Tipton County, Tennessee|Tipton County]]. Founded in [[1827]], the community is one of the earliest settlements in Tipton County. Randolph is located on the banks of the [[Mississippi River]].

Randolph was founded in 1827. Located on the banks of the [[Mississippi River]], Randolph was a center of steamboat commerce and a cotton shipping point, and in this respect an early rival of [[Memphis, Tennessee|Memphis]].<ref name=TipCtyGuide>{{Citation

</ref> In [[1830]], it was the most important shipping point in Tennessee but the fortunes declined after [[David Crockett]]’s failed attempt to cut a canal from the [[Hatchie River]] to the [[Tennessee River]].<ref name=TNMarkers>{{Citation

Because of its strategic location on top of the second Chickasaw Bluff along the Mississippi River, two forts were built near the town in the [[Civil War]]. Fort Randolph is no longer in existence and Fort Wright, which was built in [[1861]] by the state of Tennessee to defend Memphis in the Civil War. In 2008, only a powder magazine is left of Fort Wright.<ref name=TipCtyGuide/>

[[Union Army]] soldiers under the command of [[General William Tecumseh Sherman]] burnt down the town in [[1862]].<ref name=TNMarkers/>

In 2008, the community consists of two dozen dwellings with no major industry or business present.
