”’Retainability”’ is an architectural theory developed in September of 2008 by members of the Texas A&M College of Architecture. It states that the future will be marked by a decrease in innovative Sustainable Design and an increase in design pertaining to the adherence to these sustainable guidelines.

Designing by Retainability would influence architects and designers to think more about keeping the ‘green building’ techniques in constant practice, rather than the current method of constant innovation in the field of green design.
