The Tic Code
For my blog this week, I wanted to share my opinion of the movie we watched in class “The Tic Code.” I thought that it was a pretty good movie. It shows how frustrating Tourettes can be. First of all, it was shocking to see how cruel Miles was treated by the bully at his school. It’s amazing how mean some kids can be. I thought that Miles handled it rather well. I think some kids would completely break down if they were treated that way, but Miles did not let it break him down. I was really impressed by his mother. She really helped out Miles a lot, which is something that I cannot say about his dad. I can’t believe that his dad treats him that bad. It is obvious that his dad is ashamed of him, and does not want people to know that his son has Tourettes syndrome. Tyrone is an interesting man in this movie. I was surprised that he was so uncomfortable talking about Tourettes. He seems like a pretty confident guy, and I’m surprised that he is so reluctant to talk about Tourettes. That being said, I think it is great that Tyrone helps out Miles and lets him play music with him. It is obvious that Miles really admires Tyrone.
Overall, I think this movie really points out how frustrating Tourettes can be. Not only does this movie have an interesting plot, it also provides a clear example of people living with Tourettes. I would really recommend this movie to my friends. I think they would appreciate to movie, and come away with a new understanding of Tourettes.
