Dr. Oliver Boyd Barrett invited to appear on panel for AEJMC

Dr. Oliver Boyd-Barrett will be appearing on the following panel (representing international communication research) at AEJMC:
Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly is organizing a panel: “Does Journalism and Mass Communication Research Matter?”  with leading scholars in the several different fields (international communication, health communication, political communication, and new media) for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Annual Convention in Boston on August 6 Thursday from 5:00p.m.-6:30 p.m.  

At its Business Meeting on May 21, the ICA’s Division of Global Communication and Social Change presented Dr. Boyd-Barrett with a plaque in honor of his leadership during the transition to full Divisional Status within ICA.  The inscription read: The International Communication Association Division of Global Communication and Social Change Honors Oliver Boyd-Barrett for His Years of Service, Dedication and Leadership during a Time of Organizational Transition.

Dr. Gorsevski accepted to participate in summer training program of the Kroc Institute for Peace

Dr. Ellen Gorsevski been accepted as part of a team of BGSU faculty to participate in the prestigious summer training program of the Kroc Institute for Peace, which will be held this June 14 -19 at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana.  This is a competitive program and not all applicants were accepted, so it’s a positive step for BGSU’s Peace and Conflict Studies Minor, and it will be helpful training for all of us involved.

Making “The Choice” Inside the production of the FRONTLINE documentary on the 2008 Presidential Candidates

Colette Neirouz is a Coordinating Producer with Boston’s Kirk Documentary Group, producer of FRONTLINE programs for PBS. A 2004 BGSU Journalism graduate, her work has been recognized by both Emmy and Peabody Awards. She has been involved with several documentaries including “Inside the Meltdown,” “Bush’s War,” “The Torture Question,”and “Cheney’s Law.”

Top Three Student Paper in ICA’s Organizational Communication Division for the 2009 Convention

Congratulations to Deepa Oommen, whose paper originally for Dr. Canchu Lin’s COMS 655 Organizational Communication class spring 2008  has been accepted and ranked as a Top Three Student Paper in ICA’s Organizational Communication Division for the 2009 Convention. This award is also accompanied with a grant of $250 plus a waiver of conference registration fee.
