Dr. Park and Ph.D. alumnus Kyle Holody and doctoral student Xiaoqun Zhang’s article on Virginia Tech Shooting accepted by Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly

Dr. Sung-Yeon Park,  Ph.D. alumnus Kyle Holody and doctoral student Xiaoqun Zhang’s article studying the Virgina Tech shooting news coverage, “Race in Media Coverage of School Shootings: A Parallel Application of Framing Theory and Attribute Agenda-Setting,” has been accepted by Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly and will be published later in the year.

WBGU-FM and BG24 Collaborate to Produce Live Music Show

WBGU-FM and BG24 have teamed up to produce a live music show for radio and TV. This program is called Live Wire, an original concept developed by WBGU-FM and features some of the top musical talent in the Bowling Green area. This program is emceed by TCOM student Paige Dunham. 8 Episodes were taped at the Clazel Theatre in Bowling Green on February 2nd, and 16th. The final taping for the inaugural season will take place at the Clazel Theatre on Thursday March 22nd.  The final taping will feature performances by Morgen Stiegler with the BGSU Jazz Faculty Rhythm Section, Tree No Leaves, Sarah Donnelly, and Joey and the Traitors.

Dr. Clayton Rosati received BGSU Institute for the Study of Culture and Society Fellowship in Spring 2013

Dr. Clayton received the BGSU Institute for the Study of Culture and Society fellowship as a scholar in residence to conduct his research project titled, “Infrastructure of Feeling: Media, Materialism, and Struggles for the Geographies of Culture.”  He will not teach courses in spring 2013 (not 2012).

Dr. Park and Ph.D. graduate Mark Cruea coauthored article to be published in Media Psychology

Dr. Sung-Yeon Park and Mark Cruea coauthored article, “Gender disparity in video game usage: A third-person perception-based explanation” has been accepted for publication in the refereed scholarly journal, Media Psychology.  Mark Cruea is a Ph.D. graduate of the School of Media and Communication of BGSU and currently an assistant professor at Ohio Northern University.

Ph.D. students Ling Fang, Xiao Hu, Kristy Shi and Dr. Louisa Ha won top papers in 2012 Broadcast Education Association Annual Convention

Ph.D students Ling Fang, Xiao Hu, Kristy Shi and TCOM Department Chair, Dr. Louisa Ha, won three debut top paper awards in two divisions of 2012 Broadcast Education Association Annual Convention in Las Vegas. 

Ling Fang and Louisa Ha’s paper, “Who are the heavy Facebook Users among College Students?” won the first place debut paper in Interactive Media and Emerging Technologies Division.

Xiao Hu and Louisa Ha’s paper, “SNS as the Bellwether in Cyberspace: A Study on SNS Involvement and Online Media Use.,” won the second place debut paper in Interactive Media and Emerging Technologies Division.

Kristy Shi, Louisa Ha and Xiaoming Hao’s paper, “3G MVAS Market in China: Analysis of Strategic Alliances from Resource-based Perspective,” won the first place debut paper in Management, Marketing and Programming Division.
