Blogs
First coming into this assignment I thought I was completely new to blogs and I have never used them or visited one. Through the process of clicking through links to different blog sites and finding two surprising ones made me think different. I may have more experience with blogs than I originally thought I did.
I started with the list of links in part 2 of the assignment and went to the first one without reading the entire list. Once I read through the page and got used to it I could easily navigate my way through the page. I liked how each post had a great title and an image to go with it so that I am able to tell what that particular post was about.
I went to the second link after that, blogcritics.org, about reviews on tv, music, books, games, etc. I really liked this one and I will probably go back and read this every so often. At the top was a slideshow of five top posts or most recent and below was each category and then the most recent posts under that.
After the second link I read through the list that was left and saw two familiar links. On the list was Facebook and Twitter. I was first surprised that they were there because I had never thought about the two as blogs but the more I thought about them I found the similarities to regular blog sites. I use Facebook almost everyday to see the most recent events/posts from my friends and family. I realized from these that I have been using social network blogs for quite awhile without knowing it. With Facebook it is more like creating a scrapbook with memories I have posted and I can go back to look at the past.
There seem to be many types of blogs about many different subjects/topics or a mix of them. Quite of few do review for movies, music, and books to share their opinions with readers. Others have blogs like scrapbooks or journals and post what they are thinking at the moment and experiences they had. As a visitor to them I can see their point of view of things and see what they know about. Each one offers something different. I created my own BGSU blog and it can be found here: http://blogs.bgsu.edu/savcook/
