Pixelated Pixel Sketch on Minecraft

Here’s a few sketches for what I plan to do for the third project. It’s admittedly very simplistic, but I’m taking the idea of a 3Dimensional ‘pixel,’ the building block of my project, and building it out of smaller 3D pixels, and then taking that and modifying it so that it looks broken or damage, calling attention to the fact that it is made out of pixels. I’m also thinking of taking the ‘broken pixels,’ that would be disconnected from the larger ‘pixel’ and scattering them about the area they would have broken off of.

The first two sketches depict my idea of making it look like it was impacted from the side, and the third depicts a corner that has broken/been worn off. I think the final product will likely be a combination of the two, but I need to experiment to see what works best.

The base idea actually reminds me of some of the works by Sol Lewitt, mostly in terms of it’s simplicity in using the cubes.

The sketches were made possible via Minecraft Classic: http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp
