Chapter 7
Chapter 7 in The coming of Age in Second Life discusses the idea of community and how with the collaboration of the millions of individuals in the virtual world a community has formed and as a result many sub communities co-exist. Just like any community virtual or real once you are integrated and familiar with it, you begin to develop relationships and a sense of familiarity that comes with being a part of any community. Second lifers, who take full advantage of the program realize and are able to appreciate the sense of community that exists within it. In the day and age of recent society we rely more and more on this sense of community that is present in second life. Whether we realize it or not we all have this sense of virtual community whether it be through e-mails, text messages, or facebook. These are all area of the virtual realm that we have as a society accepted and made a part of our community.
