Chapter 5
chapter five is about personhood. The chapter describes the differences that people inhabit from their first lives to their second lives. It discusses how many people find it easier to interact in an online world than it is to interact with humans in their first lives. I think annonomity plays a key role in this, and allows people to express and interact with other in a completely different way. If you look at online dating you will see that the success rates show that anonomity takes factors out of a situation that would typically be present meeting someone face to face. However I think that dating and relationships in second life are weird and don’t understand the seriousness that exists between people who have relationships in the second life. I read an article the other day in which there is a law suit due to a second life relationship. The thought of this is crazy because it virtual, not real.
