Summer Slo-Puck 2009: Week 5

The fifth week of Summer Slo-Puck hockey took place on Monday, July 20. In the first game Ross Alumni took on Fremont Ross. The game got off to an interesting start as Fremont Ross played the first minute and a half without a goalie. They didn’t give up any goals with the empty net and the game was evenly matched the whole way through. Ross Alumni scored a pair of power play goals less than a minute apart midway through the third to take a 6-5 lead and added an insurance goal with 50 seconds left to get a 7-5 victory and remain undefeated. Kris Cantrell scored a pair of goals including the game winner for Ross Alumni. Dan Brainerd led Fremont Ross with two goals.
The second game of the night between D’Brickashaw and Ice Wolves featured plenty of offense. The game was evenly matched through the first two periods, but the Ice Wolves wore down team D’Brickashaw, scoring six goals in the third to pull away for a 14-7 win. Alex Binger and Andy Hess led the Ice Wolves offense. Ryan Whitson led D’Brickashaw with 4 goals and 2 assists.

2009 Summer Slo-Puck: Week 4

The fourth week of Summer Slo-Puck games took place on July 13th. In the first game D’Brickashaw took on Fremont Ross. Fremont Ross got out to an early 2-0 lead but D’Brickashaw scored the next four goals, two of them shorthanded, and held on in the third to win 7-5. Brady Munger led the scoring for D’Brickashaw with 2 goals and an assist. Spencer Munger added a goal and an assist and Jake Green scored a shorthanded goal. Austin Wilhelm led Fremont Ross with three goals and an assist.

In the second game the Ice Wolves took on Ross Alumni. The Ice Wolves took a 3-1 lead after the first but Ross Alumni scored 5 goals in the second to take the lead for good and remain undefeated. They were led by Mike Smith who had 2 goals and 2 assists. Kris Cantrell added another 2 goals. Ethan Binger and Andy Hess led the Ice Wolves with 2 goals each.

2009 Summer Slo-Puck: Week 3

The third week of Summer Slo-Puck games took place on July 6th.  In the first contest Fremont Ross took on the Ice Wolves.  The Ice Wolves took an early lead on a goal from Trey Rishel just over a minute into the game. But Fremont Ross scored the next four goals, including a penalty shot by Cody Duncan to take the lead for good as they went on to win 9-5.  Eric Theller, Austin Willhelm, Tyler Jarosz and Cody Duncan each scored two goals for Fremont Ross.  Rishel scored two goals and an assist for the Ice Wolves.

In the second game of the night Ross Alumni took on D’Brickashaw.  Early on the play was even matched with Chad Channing scoring the opening goal for Ross at 8:15 of the first period.  Ross held on to win 4-1 in a defensive battle.  Channing added two more goals for Ross.  Spencer Munger scored the lone goal for D’Brickashaw.

2009 Summer Slo-Puck: Week 2

The second week of Summer Slo-Puck action took place on June 29 with Fremont Ross facing Ross Alumni in a battle for first in the league standings.  The game was all Ross Alumni as they cruised to a 10-0 victory via the mercy rule.  Mike Smith and Ryan Picket each scored three goals and an assist for Ross Alumni.  Matt Hershey played well in net earning the shutout.

The second game came down to the wire with Team D’Brickashaw edging the Ice Wolves 6-5.  Ryan Whitson showed tremendous poise as he skated into the slot and fired a wrister that beat Jacob Relford on the high glove side for his second goal of the game which put D’Brickashaw ahead with just 10 seconds remaining.  Spencer Munger added two goals for D’Brickashaw and his brother Brady scored a goal and two assists.  The Ice Wolves were led by Andy Hess who scored two goals and David Conkey who added two assists.

2009 Summer Slo-Puck: Week 1

The 2009 Summer Slo-Puck season got underway on June 22 with Team D’Brickashaw facing off against Fremont Ross.  Team D’Brickashaw took an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Spencer Munger.  From then on it was all Fremont Ross. They scored seven unanswered goals and led 7-2 at the end of the first period en route to a 13-3 mercy rule victory.  Fremont Ross was led by Adam Hoffman with four goals and one assist.  Dan Brainard added three goals while Cody Duncan and Austin Wilhelm each tallied two goals and an assist.

In game number two, Ross Alumni took on the Ice Wolves.  Ross Alumni thoroughly dominated en route to an 11-2 victory.  They were led by Mike Smith’s three goals and two assists.  Chad Channing added a hat trick of his own while Kenneth Starner and Ryan Picket each scored one goal and three assists.  Ethan Binger scored both the Ice Wolves goals.
