KISS – The HOTTEST Show On Earth Tour 2010
09.14
On Saturday September 11, 2010, I was lucky enough to go to Clarkston, MI and see KISS LIVE! There were early complications because apparently there are DTE Energy Music Theatres. The first one I mapquested was only 45 mins away from where I live, but the second one (the correct place I needed to be) was 2 hours away! My friend and I did not leave until 5pm and the doors opened at 6pm and we had a 2 hour drive ahead of us. However, everything worked out. We got there in exactly enough time to use the restroom, buy overpriced hot dogs & fries, and get souvenir t-shirts. KISS is actually the only artist I have ever seen LIVE that went on stage on time. Fans were told KISS would arrive at 8:50, they actually came out at 8:45, KUDOS to them for being on time. Finally, the concert started. The concert was everything I could have imagined and more. Everything you always hear about KISS LIVE is all true and then some. They proceeded to open the show with their signature opening “You wanted the best….You got the best…..The HOTTEST Band In The World!!! KISS!!!” Then, they played one of the singles from their newest album “Sonic Boom” entitled “Modern Day Delilah.” From here it was no turning back, the stage antics had begun. Paul Stanley’s zip line ride through the crowd, Gene Simmons blood spewing as well as flying onto the top of a the stage lights, Eric Singer’s levitating drum solos, Tommy Thayer’s ridiculous behind the back guitar solos, it was AMAZING. They performed all of my favorites including “Detroit Rock City” “100,000 Years” “Love Gun” & “I Love It Loud.” The latter two were actually performed back to back, which is great because those are my two favorites. The fact that it was September 11 also made it a significant day and the band proceeded to honor the day by doing the Pledge of Allegiance. The band also donates $1 from every ticket sold at the particular show. That night, they ended up donating $372,000, to the families of soldiers and military services. I also would like to throw in that they performed “Crazy Crazy Nights” for the first time since the late 80’s/early 90’s as a dedication after former drummer Eric Carr’s passing away in 1991. It was great to hear them perform the song again. My worse fear about paying around $70 for the tickets were the me not getting my moneys worth, but it was definitely well worth it and I would do it again! And again! And again! It was an overall great show and I HIGHLY recommend you going to see KISS the next time they’re in your hometown! I will be uploading links/some of my personal pictures from the concert. Enjoy and until next time….KEEP ROCKING!
Inception – Movie Review
08.08
This will probably be the shortest blog I ever write. The bottom line here, GO SEE THIS FILM. If you have not seen this film by now, it is safe to say after slitting your wrists, you should proceed to jumping off a bridge (figure of speech) because you are missing out on one of the BEST films I have seen in my life. This is coming from a Film Major and just all around movie buff. This film is “Poetry In Motion.” Everything from the actors, the acting, the editing, the continuity, the story, the music by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Lion King, Da Vinci Code, Gladiator) the ending, everything. My favorite part is *SPOILER ALERT* toward the end when the girl tells everyone that will “ride the kick” all the way to the top after they went deeper into the dream than ever before. As they woke up, the editing literally showed the “ride the kick” and wake up from each dream sequence all the way to the original place where they started. The way the director and editors turned the dialogue was turned into something visual was the reason of this being my favorite part. The only thing about this film I did not like was the van falling in the water and how they continued to splice it in over and over. There was no need for this. Until told otherwise or the van is shown hitting the water, the audience can assume that it is still falling. There was no need to keeping showing that about 6 or 7 times. Because of that, this film falls just short of perfection. *SPOILER ENDED* In conclusion, PLEASE go see this film. This is the film of the Summer. This is the Best Film of the Year so far. If you can only see one film this entire year, make sure it is Inception.
Reaper Overall Rating – 9/10 Stars
The EXPENDABLES – Top 5 Reason 2 Go See It
08.08
On August 13, 2010 an Action Epic to end all Action Epics will be released…. “The Expendables.” Below is a the Top 5 reasons you should grab some friends, get some popcorn, & go see this film.
5. The score was put together by Brian Tyler. Who has done music for numerous other films, including Law Abidin Citizen, Fast & Furious 3 & 4, Eagle Eye, Rambo 4, Constantine, & Alien Vs. Predator 2. All which are Action films in their own right. Very experienced guy when it comes to Action scores.
4. Well known car modification shop West Coast Customs was contracted for the film. They customized several cars & trucks including three 1955 Ford F-100s. One for green screen, One for a crash screen, and One for Stallone to keep for personal use. There will be some very nice vehicles in this film.
3. The film was written & directed by Sylvester Stallone. Now you may say Sylvester Stallone as director? Little do people know, Stallone actually directed Rocky 3, 4, 5, and Rambo 4, which are all good movies. Also, Stallone wrote the screenplays for all of the films listed above as well as 1993’s Cliffhanger.
2. The array of different action stars & actors in this film! This is like a greatest hits of actors in this film. Actors include Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, UFC Hall Of Famer Randy Couture, UFC Veteran Antonio “Minotauro” Noguiera. These actors come from every subgenre of action film, martial arts, adventure, sword & sandal, etc.
1. Who doesn’t love a great action film?! We all love films with mass substance, deep plot lines, symbolism and things that have are mind all over the place. However, every once and a while Hollywood has to get together and show you that they can still BLOW THINGS UP! Sometimes you have to release a “Kick-Ass” action film to top off a Summer of great film releases.
The bottom line is go check out The Expendables. In Theaters August 13, 2010
