After reading Disobedience as a Psychology and Moral Problem, I agree with several of the ideals presented in the article. At the beginning of the article it talks about how the world began with an act of disobedience and that the world won’t end on an act of obedience. Disobedience comes from free will and humans being able to do whatever they please. Later on, it states that the action of obedience or disobedience can lead the future of mankind or the end of civilization. I agree with this theory. Human’s free will and ability to choose to disobey a direct order could save millions of lives or destroy the world completely. Something as simple as throwing trash in a lake after your parents told you not to could potentially make the water harmful to drink. Simply by disobeying, the water is has now been poisoned and anyone that may fish or get water from this lake could be in danger. A ripple effect has started and harmed many people because a human decide to disobey and throw trash in the lake.

Interesting. So how does obedience play into situations in your opinion? Why does Fromm believe the world will end in an act of obedience? You don’t need to answer these questions here, but you may want to consider them as you move into the second essay assignment.

There is no need to be afraid of linking to sites whose
scale shows simply a tiny sliver of green on his or her scale.
For instance, if Web Developer’s Journal were to link to your site, that link could be worth a lot more than 20 links from a friends’ personal Web
pages. Take part in forums, write articles, blogs (including ‘blogger’ that Google owns), maybe
even spend on a link back for your web site.
