Weekend With Family by Caitlyn
So, this past week started out like any other week. Monday I dreaded the time spent in lab, Tuesday I didn’t feel like learning but went to class and learned anyway, Wedneday I couldn’t wait until it was Friday, Thursday I prayed for snow. Then, something happened that never happens in BG…. WE GOT A SNOW DAY ON FRIDAY!!!!
I was so excited, not only did I get to sleep in, but my sister was supposed to come visit. For those who don’t know, I am from Nevada so I don’t see my family too much. Ironically, my brother, my sister and myself ended up on the east coast for school. My sister goes to Lake Erie College in Painesville, OH and my brother goes to West Point in New York.
But I woke up to a text message saying that she probably couldn’t come because of the weather. Sad! So, I spent my Friday tackling homework, trying to get a head start on my midterm stuyding and preparing for a practice dental admission test the next morning. However, at about 8 p.m., I got another text message from her asking if she should come and stay the weekend. Of course I said yeah providing that you have a ride back. Long story short, a friend brought her to BG and I stayed up till 2:30 in the morning waiting for her, moved my friend’s futon into my dorm to give her a place to sleep and even went out and bought her food. I know, I am a fabulous host.
The sacrifices aside, we ended up having a great weekend. I took my test on Saturday and did remarkably well and then my sister and I had some pizza, went hot tubbing in our sister swim suits, relaxed in the sauna, ate in the pub on campus and had a movie night (I highly recommend Easy A and The Proposal).
My sister left this morning (Feb. 27) after we grabbed some breakfast. I still have to work and do more homework and study for finals, but overall, her unexpected, daunting visit that forced me to lose sleep and buy her things was totally, epically, beyond worth it. Sometimes being in college makes me forget how much I appriciate having siblings and getting to see them. Just another weekend at BGSU heading into one of the most treacherous weeks ever…. midterms!!!
