NaNoWriMo at the Library

Calling all writers!

If you’re participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) this November, or just need a quiet place to write, come to the 3rd floor of the library on Thursday, November 7th for a “Come Write In” event at the Music Library.

From 7 to 10 pm, we’ve reserved our largest table with its 48 (yes, that’s 48) power outlets for you and all of your portable electronic devices. We’ll also have coffee, tea, and a few light snacks to keep you energized throughout the evening.

NaNoWriMo is a movement of people who try to write a 50,000 word (or thereabouts) novel in 30 days, specifically during the month of November. Currently there are over 88,000 novelists participating this year. It started in 1999 in the San Francisco Bay area, and has since become a world-wide movement. (citation: History, NaNoWriMo.org)

Some of the more famous novels that have been written during NaNoWriMo include Sara Gruen’s Water for Elephants and Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus.

Head over to nanowrimo.org to sign up, lend your support, or even just for more information.

LP Alert

It’s our first refill of the new semester! Highlights include: some fascinating Polish imports, several of Beethoven’s symphonies conducted by Toscanini, and some Herman’s Hermits vinyl for those who love British Invasion rock. And musicals. AND some jazz! There’s a little something for everyone.
