Self-Reflection
When the semester first started, I wasn’t sure how well my papers were going to be compared to others because of the lack of teaching I had in high school. Back then, writing a paper involved writing the bare minimum amount of words needed, repeating yourself, and filling the pages with useless information. I know I didn’t write that well, but I always seemed to get good grades. It didn’t make sense. So when I arrived at BGSU, I completely changed my demeanor and decided to push myself into becoming a better writer.
Throughout the semester, I could definitely see some improvement in my writing skills, especially with my tone. I’ve struggled with that all throughout high school. I could never quite get the hang of the idea until about the third essay. I also saw myself using more descriptive words inside and outside of the classroom. I have expanded my vocabulary so much that my family friends have acknowledged it and confronted me about it. Knowing that I have grown so much already in these past three to four months makes me excited to see what’s I am capable of doing in GSW 1120. Although I had a not-so-great learning experience in high school, I am glad to see that my writing and vocabulary skills are improving in just a short few months of being here at BGSU. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
