I was surprised that the university actually apporved buildings a rock climbing wall at the recreation center. I feel that the administration always tries to watch their own ass when it comes to ammenities on campus. I would have thought that the danger associated with the rock wall, the liability and total cost of custruction would have all been major deterants. Nonetheless, I think that it was a good addition to the campus. Just from taking recreation classes I have met plenty of people in the major that use the rock wall and some that even work at it.

-This is a plan that is used by Indiana University. The plan focuses on what appropriate actions a teach or instructor should talk in case of an emergency. I thought this plan was interesting because it had a alot to say about terrorism and acceptable procedures to follow in such an event.

-With any type of sport activity, the participant knowingly assumes the risk of injury that would come as a result of ORDINARY NEGLIGENCE, which protects the facility manager from such torts. If there was some type of GROSS NEGLIGENCE on the part of the faclilty manager, than there would have been a breach of duty towards the user on the part of the facility manager. An example of GROSS NEGLIGENCE would be instead of having protective mats on the floor, the facility placed a metal panel.

I do believe that history tends to repeat itself, but I don’t feel that we can predict the future roughly based on past events. I don’t feel that the information age can be compared to World War One which was an exmaple in the article oncycles in US history. I feel that time runs on a linear path rather than a cyclular path.

I think that the coach of the USA hockey team displayed a transactional leadership style. The transactional theory states that reward and punishment are the best ways to motivate people. A clear chain of cammand is used in this structure with a clear structure for the followers. Herb was strict in his ways as a coach and expected alot from his players. He made his players respect his through his seriousness and professionalism. He used punishments often to motivate his players as well as rewards to positivley reinforce the good behavior. The ultimate reward was the gold medal.
