MIRACLE

I think that the coach of the USA hockey team displayed a transactional leadership style.  The transactional theory states that reward and punishment are the best ways to motivate people.  A clear chain of cammand is used in this structure with a clear structure for the followers.  Herb was strict in his ways as a coach and expected alot from his players.  He made his players respect his through his seriousness and professionalism.  He used punishments often to motivate his players as well as rewards to positivley reinforce the good behavior.  The ultimate reward was the gold medal.
