Chapter 5 reflection
This chapter deals with personhood and digital identities. First off, the chapter discusses how people can have distinct identities online that differ from their real life personas. The ability to be anonymous online allows people to live out things they may dream of doing, but could never do in real life. While using these screen names in SL doesn’t make them anonymous in SL, but their real identity is. Anyway an avatar dresses or acts in SL will be part of how they are perceived in the SL community. The appearance of an avatar in SL is something that a real person puts time into. The clothing, the hair style, the gender, and the race of the avatar are all chosen by a real person for a reason, maybe this is how they see themselves in real life or just how they want to be seen in SL. Digital identities are something that people put time into and can be an extension of their real life identity or what they fantasize about.
