Arguing With Sources
The question that I would like to answer: Are politicians speeches effective? Do they convince you enough to win your vote, to gain your trust, to believe in them? My audience would be the American public, specifically those voting in the elections this November. My purpose is to convince my audience of the effectiveness these speeches have. I plan to use speeches given by President Barack Obama and Republican nominee, Governor Mitt Romney, among other sources. Thesis: The rhetoric and language used by politicians is what gets the majority of their votes; not their policies and plans of actions. It is how they approach their audience and how successfully they get their point across to them. My opponents will more than likely say that politicians do not persuade to get votes; they lie. They might point out how little truth politicians actually say in their speeches.

I like this topic, Kandeise! However, it be tough to argue – you might want to consider narrowing it down to one speech and arguing whether it is effective or not. Don’t make things too hard on yourself!
