BG Exchange Club Internship

The Bowling Green Exchange Club has just celebrated 70 years of service to the community and during our anniversary year we realized that the club would like to raise awareness of our activities and charitable giving.  I am reaching out to the Department of Journalism and Public Relations in the hope of attracting an intern for the 2017/2018 academic year.

The internship would be unpaid, but would offer a student a high degree of autonomy with two public relations campaigns and valuable community contacts. In addition, the national headquarters of Exchange Club is located in Toledo, OH, and a student would have exposure to a service club’s leadership at the highest level.  To get an idea of what Exchange does, here is the National website, http://www.nationalexchangeclub.org/.  Information about our local club can be found at http://www.bgexchangeclub.org/.

Below is a list of the responsibilities for the internship:

  • Newspaper briefs on upcoming speakers
  • Social Media Updates on Exchange activities and speakers
  • Public relations campaign for our scholarship giving and former recipients and finding out how it made a difference
  • Publicity for our Bowling Green High School and Penta Career Centers Student of the Month program
  • Publicity for projects we fund in the community such as the playground at Job and Family Services
  • Public relations campaign for the Positive Start Program for middle school students in April.  The club believes this is a powerful service to the community and could benefit from a dedicated campaign.  A description of Positive Start can be found here: http://preview.tinyurl.com/y8uedbwj

One requirement is that students would have to be available for lunch meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Stone Ridge Golf Club.  The lunch would be provided and transportation could also be provided if necessary, but it would be critical for the student to attend our meetings to better understand the club.
