Internship with Capitol Justice in Washington, D.C.

Capitol Justice, a homicide reporting website located in Washington, D.C., is offering semester-long internships for students interested in media and criminal justice — and is looking for interns from your school.

We are part of the Washington Media Institute–which offers students the opportunity for a full-time internship for on-the-ground training at places like Capitol Justice, in tandem with a series of seminars and courses designed specifically to mesh lessons learned outside the classroom with those within, using Washington as our classroom backdrop.

Capitol Justice offers students the opportunity for training in criminal justice, social justice issues and journalism by pairing them with an editor to follow up on homicides and distill information from the warrants and notes they collect in the courthouse and at the police station. It is an ideal opportunity for a student looking to apply the lessons and theories learned in the classroom in the nation’s capital and walk away with a first-hand experience of the criminal justice system.

The Washington Media Institute (WMI) is the premier experiential media program for students interested in a career in the media. WMI Students intern four days a week at top media organizations across DC, all while taking a series of individualized seminar courses and earning a full course-load of transferable credits. Students are eligible to earn at least 12 hours of credit during the fall and spring semesters and at least 6 hours of credit during the summer session.
