To whom it may concern:
I have an excellent opportunity for your film or broadcasting students this summer. I have four openings for internships in our Leader’s Training Course Public Affairs Office.
The internship is at Fort Knox, Ky., and is conducted from June 12 to Aug. 11. It is open only to students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors during the 2013-14 school year. Deadline for applications is Jan. 25.
Under guidance from the Public Affairs Office, each intern will produce at least one video covering participants’ experiences during the course that is focused on cadets seeking enrollment in the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, more commonly known as ROTC. They also will produce a number of other shorter pieces on activities and people connected to the course. Interns will be responsible for shooting, editing and producing each video, and should possess sufficient skills to accomplish this task with minimal supervision.
Interns are paid approximately $270 a week (tax-free) and given free housing in a local hotel. Of course, they’ll also receive a wealth of experience. Internships are for 11 weeks. Further details are available upon request.
Interns should have experience with shooting video in a documentary style, non-linear editing and have a working knowledge of producing video for DVD quality and posting to the Internet. Interns must be able to juggle multiple assignments.
All applicants must have a driver’s license.
Your students will gain valuable experience and have the opportunity to interact with college students from across the nation who are training to become Army officers.
To apply, students can send their packets to me at steve.arel@usacc.army.mil. Packets will only be accepted electronically and should include a cover letter, resume and a demo DVD of recent work. If you or your students wish to contact me, my number is (502) 624-1842.
Sincerely,
Steve Arel
