Franklin Fellows

Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, a leading national non-profit journalism organization, is proud to announce their Franklin Fellows program. This program pairs journalism students with working reporters at Capitol News Bureaus throughout the United States to produce quality journalism on local and state issues. By working with seasoned journalists, these students have the chance to get real world experience by learning first-hand how to conduct interviews, research and write quality stories.

By joining the Franklin Fellows Program, journalism students will not only be learning how to be a journalist but they will also be playing an important role in combating the growing decline of media presence at state capitols. An American Journalism Review study found that only 355 full-time newspaper reporters still are based state capitols; 44 statehouses have fewer full-time reporters than they did six years ago. These students will be making a difference by covering the important stories that the traditional media is no longer able to.

In addition to gaining vital experience, Franklin Fellow receive a monthly stipend.
