Alumnus Alex Alusheff shared news of an opening at the Lansing [Michigan] State Journal where he works. Alusheff posted on the BG News Alumni Facebook page: “The Lansing State Journal is looking for an active lifestyle reporter. Basically you get to write about canoeing, biking and anything fun going on in the region. Good pay, good benefits and you can work a few desks over from me.”

The Lansing State Journal is looking for a reporter who wants to be a part of and report on Greater Lansing’s active lifestyles community. This reporter will focus on stories about Michiganders on the go, including recreational/individual sports such as running, cycling, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, yoga, etc. The beat also includes health news, initiatives in Greater Lansing and the roles health and fitness play in individual and community well-being. The reporter will be expected to deliver a mix of daily, mid-level and deeper enterprise stories. Social media and basic photo and video skills required.
Qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s in Communications, Journalism or equivalent in experience and education.
- Experience with news reporting on multiple platforms.
