The Fine Arts Center Galleries are seeking public relations interns for fall (and spring and summer) 2013/14 to help promote several outstanding exhibitions. These are volunteer positions with a good opportunity for diverse experiences in public relations, marketing and event planning. Responses to this experience from previous interns have been very positive, and some of our past interns have gone on to positions with museums and art centers.
Public Relations Interns are responsible for working with the Gallery Director and the Galleries team to compose and publish/distribute timely marketing/public relations material about the exhibitions. This includes news releases, public service announcements, facebook and web updates, maintaining the online Gallery calendar and updating files of Gallery activities. Writing ability, creative thinking and initiative are key, while basic computer and record keeping skills are also required.
These are flexible positions in terms of scheduling, and have the benefit of being on campus. They may receive 1-3 hours of credit, under the supervision of an SMC faculty member. Interested students may contact the Gallery Director at jnathan@bgsu.edu.
