Journalism Internship

Bowling Green based non-profit scientific society seeks an intern to assist with reporting and writing work for annual meeting, development of web content, and general communications tasks. Qualifications include excellent communication skills, reporting experience, and strong writing ability. Intern candidates should be in their junior or senior year of a Bachelor’s program in Journalism. This internship will begin in January 2018 and will run for 10 weeks at 10-15 hours per week with a flexible work schedule available.

Job Title:        Intern – Journalism

Reports to:     Communications Manager

Functions:      Provide assistance with reporting work for the annual conference sessions, development of web content, and general communications tasks for the administrative staff and members of a growing professional association. This unpaid internship assignment is for 10-15 hours per week for a semester and may be renewed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and write feature articles based on sessions at the annual conference
  • Assist with developing web content for the weekly refresh
  • Assist in the creation of social media content
  • Assist in the promotion and communications of conference-related activities
  • Assist in media communications and press releases
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned by the Communications Manager

Internship Program Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled as a Journalism major
  • Must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours
  • Must be a full-time student attending an accredited four-year university
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Strong writing ability
  • Demonstrated reporting experience, as evidence by clips
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong computer skills, specifically experience with Microsoft Office
