Media General’s Minority Scholarship & Training Program is now accepting applications from ambitious multicultural students seeking careers in broadcast television and/or digital media. The Company will award one broadcast television scholarship/internship and one digital media scholarship/internship, to commence summer 2015.
The program is open to all minority sophomore and junior students with a declared major in broadcast journalism, digital multimedia, mass/speech/digital communication, television production, or marketing, at a university or college within the United States. The deadline to apply is January 30, 2015.

Scholarship details:
If the selected award winner is a sophomore, he/she will receive a two-year scholarship for up to ten thousand ($10,000) dollars per year that can be used toward tuition, fees, books, and room and board. In addition, the student will receive a two (2) year contract with Media General, following graduation.
If the selected award winner is a junior, he/she will receive a one-year scholarship for up to ten thousand ($10,000) dollars that can be used toward tuition, fees, books, and room and board. In addition, the student will receive a one (1) year contract with Media General, following graduation.
During the summer months preceding the student’s junior and/or senior year, each award winner will gain valuable experience interning at one of our 71 television stations or digital businesses. Media General will also provide housing and a stipend during the summer months. Upon successful completion of the one-year or two-year internship, we will identify open positions in the student’s area of interest (News, Digital, Promotions, Sales, etc.) throughout the company and the student will fill one of those positions as an employee upon graduation.
