The Scripps Howard Foundation is looking for curious, energetic college juniors and seniors studying journalism to report from Washington during the spring and summer terms. Interns are paid a stipend and provided free housing in furnished apartments.
Interns find, report and write stories for the web-based Scripps Howard Foundation Wire, take photos, create slide shows and shoot and edit video. Semester in Washington takes six interns in the 14-week spring term and six in the 10-week summer term. Applicants with multimedia experience will be given preference.
A seventh intern works for the Hispanic Link News Service in the spring and fall. Applicants should be juniors or seniors with previous internship experience or extensive work with student media.
Program dates and application deadlines for Semester in Washington and Hispanic Link internships:
- Spring 2014: Jan. 6 to April 11. Application deadline: Nov. 1, 2013. Program includes a stipend of $2,660 and free housing.
- Summer 2014: June 9 to Aug. 15. Application deadline: Nov. 1, 2013. Program includes a stipend of $1,900 and free housing.
