The BG News has won second place for its website, bgnews.com, in the recently completed national Best of Show competition sponsored by the Associated College Press. The winners were announced at ACP/College Media Advisers national student media convention held Oct. 26-30, 2011 in Orlando, Fla. The News placed second behind the University of Illinois in the Publication Website Large School category.
The award recognizes a four-month effort where the student staff completely redesigned the website and launched a new content management system allowing for greater multimedia usage.
Asia Rapai is editor of The BG News and the website is managed by web editor Lauren Poff and assistant web editor Nathan Elekonich.
Other schools placing in the onsite convention competition were: Madison Area Technical College, Iowa State University, Central Michigan University, University of Arizona, Boise State University, Indiana University, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
