Ok well in class I told my reading group my idea about my visual narrative.  They thought it was a good idea, and said it was cute.  I think this is a good building block to where i am going to go with my project.  I showed them just an outline without any pictures and they said it was a good idea so that is a good sign.  I think that once i put the outline into a powerpoint i will come up with even more ideas.  I hope that i can put music into powerpoints though because i have one main song that i want to put into it.  Also finding pictures is going to be fun because my visual narrative is somewhat humorous at times.  I’m not sure how much longer i want to make it but right now it’s not a bad size.  The song i want to put in my powerpoint is off of an EP called Daedelus – The Quiet Party, although it is not produced by Daedelus it is produced by Madlib who remixes some of the tracks on the EP, the actual song is called Madlib Bonus Beats.  I think it would provide a perfect loungy background to my visual narrative.  I have not mentioned it yet but my Visual Narrative is about Books and how they have affected my life and how are they are still affecting my life.  I am mainly going to be focusing on the numerous distractions i have in my life that stop me from opening up a book.

Blog Post of Progress

Well right now i am working on my visual narrative.  I’m pretty positive i’m going to do a powerpoint, but i do wish that i knew how to make movies online because i would definitely do that.  I wrote up an outline of what the text might say for my visual narrative, and now i must find some pictures to put into the powerpoint.  Other than that i think i’m up to date on everything else in this class.

Good Visual Narrative?

Published by under Uncategorized

According to the examples that we saw in class, i think a good visual narrative is one that not only is informative but also tells a little story.  Music seems to be somewhat important, and as much action as you can put into the piece to make it interesting.  A bad visual narrative is one that doesnt not show the audience anything interesting, and also does not have at least 2 forms of communication, such as writing and pictures.

Reading Question

Published by under Uncategorized

Do i think that the internet is not really reading? Do i think that the internet is dumbing down our society?

No.  I believe that because of the changing times and technology, the human race was inevitably going to rely more on machines to do more work for us, and we will rely more on them in the future.  I think that a lot of older folk are afraid of what they do not understand, for one many elderly or middle-aged people do not completely understand how to use the internet yet.  Therefore it is easier to just say that its dumbing down our society than it is to actually see the good things it has done.  And i think the best results from the internet is the widespread knowledge that was never ever available like this at your finger-tips.  It makes us wiser as a whole, and could help stop bad things that are going on in the world or help to prevent them.

Visuals Blog

  • We use visuals to help aid what we are trying to communicate to the audience
  • Visuals are vital in communication because they help form what is trying to be communicated better.
  • Visuals are important to my daily life because all day we look at signs, especially on the road, that help us to both navigate us to where we are going as well as warn us.  Education-wise they are important because in textbooks and in class visuals are used very often.  Visuals are important to my future career because in funeral services and deathcare, it is important that you know exactly what to do, and when and where to do it, because you’re dealing with someone’s loved one.  Hence visual aids are used in order to make the job easier.
