Hm. What roles do technology play in society? I believe that technology is taking over society. Human communication is becoming less and less important, as people could spend their whole lives at their house, if they have a job doing something on the internet. As the human race has grown, our technology has grown exponentially along with it. Just in recent years the technological advances have been amazing. Because of the internet and now widespread communication throughout the world, knowledge on any subject can be passed along to other people very easily. If each nation shares and contrasts it’s knowledge and technology with other nations, each nation will only grown faster and more advanced than ever. The role that technology plays on literacy is that formal types of reading and writing are starting to become more and more obsolete, with advances in computers and such. I think one of the biggest threats of our new technology is that nations are also advancing in weaponry, and soon someone will be able to extinguish if not half, but the whole world, if they wanted to.

Peer review has not helped me too much in the past. Because of my extensive amount of writing i’ve had to do in grade school and then high school, i tend to not take peer help too strongly. I do not do this on purpose, but that is just usually how it happens. I know that i should start taking peer review more seriously since it could help me get a better grade.
Whenever i am giving someone a peer review i do try to be as helpful as possible, and pass my as much of knoweldge as possible. It is important though to not be very critical of the peer, rather just give constructive advice and help.

What i have drawn is a long snake-like monster, but the head is more like an evil frog head. The eyes are yellow and the head is green. The teeth are long and sharp and the tail twists back just like a snakes would.

Pathos
It is the appeal that the rhetor uses in an attempt to draw on the audience’s emtions, these emotions include love, hate, pity, sorrow, happiness, and so on.
This video appeals to Pathos greatly, it is Sarah McLachlan’s animal cruelty groups video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gspElv1yvc
In Atwood’s sample narrative an example of Pathos is when the rhetor talks about speaking with Sheree and how teaching writing to women in school was negative, mainly because they were shy or afraid of writing. This appeals to our sympathy emotion.

I think this excerpt and reading is very correct. The language around us when we are born is what we are going to percieve and it will help us communicate and view the world the way that certain culture does. I think later in your life when you are more mature and have been around a lot more diversity, the one-sidedness of your culture and language begins to fade. Literacy development will always remain culture-based, unless some how someday the world becomes one nation / culture and we all submit to a certain way of life.

1. I would like an audience that reads young adult / adult books for this one, so that means any age over 15.
2. This audience i would like to be somewhat knowledgeable about world events.
3. Any college student could be the audience to this one.
4. Anyone that uses the internet for music could be the audience to this one.
5. People very familiar with the internet, and communicating with other people on the internet should be the audience for this one.

1. Reading David Edding’s Series that got me into books. This fantasy series was very long and i became quite addicted to the story line. I spent much time, hours and hours, reading these books at a young age. Still to this day i pick up his books and read them.
2. The Richard Wurmbrand Story book. This story is about a priest who was tortured by communists and imprisoned for over 10 years. It affected my life greatly and made me think a lot deeper about the world.
3. Soulseek Music Downloading Program. This is the first program i used to start downloading music, it really helped me delve deaper into music because it gave the ability to look into other people’s folders and find new stuff to download. I would not be listening to 3/4th the artists i listen to today if it wasn’t for this program
4. Internet Downloading Blogs. Hip hop blogs have tons of stuff on them like reviews and album downloads. They help me keep in touch with what is going on in the underground hip-hop world. And i spend a lot of time on them daily, and have been for a few years now.
5. Online Hip Hop Forums. I got into hiphop forums after getting into soulseek, i spent many years on them and it was a good way to congregate with a lot of underground heads and talk about the music.
All of these have affected my life greatly, and i think i could do a paper on each.

A narrative is a story. It includes many different forms, such as short stories, novels, poems, etc. I’ve read narratives my whole life. I have not written any narratives in a while, mainly when i was in elementary school because they tried to add creative writing into the curriculum as much as possible. A narrative is mainly told by one person, hence the word narrator.
