Blog 3/27

Published by under Uncategorized

My peer review went pretty well.  I did not have much of the essay completed but Mia is a very good reviewer and gave me some good ideas to think about while i began writing the rest of it.

In class i will be working on completely finishing the essay, making sure that there are no spelling or grammar errors, and doing a process of re-reading and fixing that will enable me to see if any paragraphs do not fit where they are situated.

My questions are, what are the rhetorical appeals we are suppose to address? are those the ethos pathos things?  Secondly, if this has to be 3/5 pages and my PSA is only 50 seconds long, i don’t know how i’m going to come up with enough information for all of that.

I want to use this PSA because it made me chuckle, as well as it is somewhat relevant. It is about texting and driving, and sometimes while i drive i like to text. This made me think about me texting and driving and if it is dangerous or not.

3.18 Blog

Published by under Uncategorized

My Culture at the Crossroads starts off with showing evidence of where the article actually is and who wrote it.  It then goes into the views of author and how he sees his culture changing.  The concluding sentence of the introduction is the thesis where it state’s the author’s main issue.

  • I think that in my introduction i should show evidence and credibility to what i’m talking about
  • Give a short overview of what the writing is about
  • Give a thesis statement as to what i’m trying to express
  • And somehow lead the introduction into the rest of the paper, which can be done with the thesis itself.

Blog Spring Break

Published by under Uncategorized

My spring break was pretty fun and interesting. I had to go home back to cleveland to work, and make money that i will have to use for the rest of the year at school. I got to hang out with my friends from back home, as well as my brother, and the rest of my family. Work was good and going out was fun. I think the highlight of my spring break is i met a girl… We have started to talk but you never know what will happen.

Portfolios

Published by under Uncategorized

Portfolios in the past have worked out well for me.  I have had to do portfolios in many of the english classes i have taken in my life.  The ability to present all of your final work to see how you improved throughout the year is definitely something that is worth taking part in.

Blog PSA Literacy

Published by under Uncategorized

The video relates to literacy because it involves the internet and the computer.  The little girl goes into her room and signs onto the internet and then uses the instant messanger, this is a point of literacy.

PSA Reflection

Published by under Uncategorized

We have not recorded our video yet so there is not that much to talk about.  As a group we did decide that one of the storyboards was the best.  Although we all had similiar ideas about what we wanted to do, so picking one was really not that hard.  I’m excited to record the video tomorrow because it is a fun and interesting PSA and i do not know how it is really going to turn out.  My group members are awesome, and i hope i can help them out a lot more in the creative process.

Computers in School

Published by under Uncategorized

I believe it is extremely important for there to be computers in school.  First of all, many jobs in these days in times are becoming more computer oriented.  Little things like filing papers is changing into filing data into computers.  It is imperative that children be taught with computers because they must be computer literate to survive and hold a good job these days.  Being able to type a letter or email on a computer is very important as well.  Many bosses and jobs will ask that you contact them through email for certain things.  Being able to type good letter and be computer literate in doing so, will help the child in many different times during life.  Our society is becoming more and more technologically advanced, and computers are really just the first step in a big explosion that i believe is going to occur.

Part 2: (travel companion on a train in Europe is the audience)

So you know how technology is changing very fast, well i think that computers are definitely needed for children in schools just for them to be able to keep up with how fast we are advancing.  Without computer knowledge how is this person going to be able to get and hold a job in 10 years? You know that computers are taking over the job market as it is, so in 10 years don’t you think that its going to be absolutely necessary for them to have computer knowledge?

PSA Criteria

Published by under Uncategorized

First of all, it should have a clear message to the audience.

Second, it should have some matieral, an example, or information that is used to help the audience understand this message.

The PSA should be a video or audio.

It should’ve been worked on by all the members of the group.

It should have some kind of structure, and is not just a bunch of random things put together.
