Pick a Rhetorical Appeal

Published by under Uncategorized

Pathos

It is the appeal that the rhetor uses in an attempt to draw on the audience’s emtions, these emotions include love, hate, pity, sorrow, happiness, and so on.

This video appeals to Pathos greatly, it is Sarah McLachlan’s animal cruelty groups video.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gspElv1yvc

In Atwood’s sample narrative an example of Pathos is when the rhetor talks about speaking with Sheree and how teaching writing to women in school was negative, mainly because they were shy or afraid of writing.  This appeals to our sympathy emotion.
