Hey,

I have learned a lot of key things this semester that will be beneficial for me in my future at BGSU and in my film career. I was happy that I got to learn how to use Final Cut and After Effects. Before this class, I never got to use these awesome programs, but now that I have I can cross it off my bucket list. YES! I am kidding of course, but I am happy I got to experience it.  I loved the Block’s visual concept because I never thought how important every aspect of an image was. I mean I know the image is important of course, but I’m talking about the deeper aspects of movements, contrast, space, rhythm, etc… The biggest challenge I faced was figuring out how to make my animation logo look like old and scratched up video like an 80s movie on a VHS tape. I had to add layers over layers over layers of different effects, which took some time because this was my first time using this program. I really enjoyed doing the reading activities because I thought it was fun to take some cool pictures and short videos. My film manifesto was “There are many words that can describe film and “reality” is not one. Film is a way of sharing one’s imagination to the audience.” and after this whole whacky  semester, I am still sticking to it because this is something I have been agreeing with my whole life and I feel like I have incorporated it to all the films I have worked on this year.

Thanks for a great semester,

Jacob Peake
