Invention/Interview with a Peer

 

 

1. What issue are you considering?

Parent Alcoholism destroys kids lives

2. What is your personal connection to it?

My mother is an alcoholic. It’s been a lifetime struggle.

3. Can you imagine others disagreeing about your issue?  Is it arguable?

I can because there are others who it was probably different for.

4. How does this issue resonate with others?

Those who have experienced it agree that it’s very tough on everyone involved

5. What are you considering as your thesis/claim?

Parent alcoholism is detrimental to the children’s lives. Something about that

6. What is it that you want others to consider? How will you persuade your audience to think in new ways?

I will explain the downsides of alcoholism to get people to think of negative effects on others.

7. What counterarguments (opposing claims) might others have regarding your argument? How will you respond to these arguments?

Alcohol is just fun.  I’ll say it’s a depressant and in a family situation it can destroy lives.

8. You will need to concede to show that you have a broad understanding of your claim.  How will you do that?

Explain situations and stories in my own life.

9. How will you create support using evidence?

I will use experiences that I have personally been through

10. How will you create support using appeals? (Appeal to Logic, Emotion, Character, Need, Value)

I will use my emotions a lot in this and most likely my character, values, and the needs that I have in my life.

    It takes a lot of courage to write about such a topic and I want you to know that I respect your courage for sharing this important belief. I also want you to know that my father is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict and his addictions really affected my entire family. I can relate to where you are coming from and again, really respect the fact that you are taking this opportunity to write about it. Please know that it will be read in a very open-minded and caring manner.
