ISO indicates the sensitivity of light of the camera’s image sensor.
The lower the number is, the less sensitive it is to light.
For example, ISO 100 would be LOW SENSITIVITY (darker) , ISO 3200 would be HIGH SENSITIVITY (brighter).
Under the same aperture and shutter settings…
Sometimes we would want to take a photo of a moving object in a dim environment, (say, snapshot at a party) we would need to choose a higher ISO in order to allow the camera to intake enough light for the photo.
However, there is a drawback for this method. The higher the ISO (light sensitivity) is, the noisier the photo will become. You will lose on delicate details of the photos and photos always do not look good with too much noise.
side by side comparison: ISO 100 vs ISO 3200
ISO 3200
So the method we should adopt while taking photos is to choose the minimum ISO possible. Try to change the aperture or shutter first, if all fails then resort to tuning up to a higher ISO. 🙂

ä½ å¥½! ni hao! (hi) My name is Gigi Wong and I’m from Hong Kong, majoring in Film Production.  I enjoy photography and music, and I love watching youtubers like wongfuproductions or kevjumba.  I chose the States for exchange because somehow I just wanted to come here since I was in high school, so here I am 🙂
I hope I can take new courses and be exposed to learn new stuff that I couldn’t back in Hong Kong.
