XMO Plan Proposal

July 11th, 2010

Help! This is a lesson plan with an aching for a make-over! This lesson lacks motivation for the students. The procedures are short and boring.  It sites to use a map but not clear on what kind, maybe a paper map or surf the web for a virtual map. The objectives are weak and contain no KUDO’s! The use of a journal may seem easy enough to draw out the objectives but a project to actually make the physical characteristics of land and water would create a more exciting and learning lesson. The assessment is a journal entry, that too needs some fine tuning.

After looking over this lesson plan it really does lack any motivation for the students. I think this would be a good one to make over!

Heather, I think this lesson could use a makeover! This activity could use a “hook” to jump start the engagement of this activity. There needs to be some tiered assignments provided. I like the idea of a 3D map and I think we could add other options to accommodate more learning styles. Finally, the assessment could be altered and we could discuss possible differentiated forms or even a rubric?? Overall, this could be a great option for our XMO chat!

I think this lesson is very vague and shows great opportunity for adding differentiation. It could turn in to a great plan.
