Good questions! In a classroom setting, I think I would want to use blogs. I like blogging because it allows the students to practice their writing skills. Since microblogging only allows the students to use a certain amounts of words, they will most likely be using abbreviations.

I’m conflicted here. Blogs could encourage students to be long-winded and not provide any substance. Microblogs encourage students to communicate effectively and get their ideas across in a short message instead of a long, unnecessary response.

Thats a tough question. Each has benefits and negatives. Twitter could be a great tool for question asking, especially in a large lecture class. For example if there was a direct visual feed to twitter students could tweet their questions in and the professor could choose which questions to answer when in an anonymous way.

Personally, I prefer blogging. I think it allows for more thought, more research, and it allows students to work on their syntax skills in addition to helping them get an idea across effectively. Microblogging is great for stream-of-consciousness thinking, but not as effective when you’re trying to teach the pros and cons of syntax and language.

I would prefer to use blogging in a Digital Graphic design classroom setting. This is because the students can communicate in a larger word count for question. Also it keeps all the comments on one specific page and does not force the students to search the web and cause stress. I would only use microblogging to communicate assignments and updates to my students. It will be their weekly or daily reminder.

I agree with Leah; microblogging limits the discussion necessary for a classroom setting. It is important to allow student the space to express their opinions and questions related to the topics fully without limiting their words.
