I have chosen prompt number 2 – Mass media shaping younger generations.

1. I do believe I am well prepared to write on the issue. I have written papers and ideas about this same issue and others related to this issue that I can reflect on and incorporate with my essay.

2. I do understand the issues, and I feel well prepared to argue my position in a well presented way to my readers.

3. This topic has always interested me, so researching it and exploring others opinions and feelings about it should be no problem at all.

4. This issue is very prevalent in society today; actually probably the most known it has ever been, in turn being a perfect time to find a lot of information and research on the topic.

I will be writing essay 2 on the negative effects mass media has on children.I know this issue well because I grew up with little mass media influence and now have little siblings who so.

I think this need to understand this because,as an education major,it’s important for me to understand the outside influences of the younger genration.

I think it matters to plenty of people(with plenty of debate to be had) because people will say that the times are changing,so does the generation (I believe this is false.)

Thesis:The mass media is having an negative effect on the younger generation because, children aren’t ready to understand the power of mass media, they are not media literate enough to handle the information they can find and it’s important that children learn about the world in a thoughtful way so they can have their own opinions later.

For essay #2, my topic will be about how the dependence on technology by society is bad.

I know a good amount about this issue, but will have no trouble finding sources to support my opinion.

I understand the issue, but will learn more as I research more in depth about it.

I do want to learn other peoples opinions about the issue, and have already asked some people about it.

This issue is a concern to people today as this is the second class I have discussed this issue.

I am writing my essay on topic #3 about video game violence.

Testing your choice:

1. I know a lot about the issue already but it might help to get some research, ive got a strong opinion about the subject because i am a gamer.

2. I understand it well enough right now but to really flesh it out i should do more research to back up my thoughts.

3. I would like to know more about the issue, and more about how the government deals with video game violence issues so i can sound intelligent when arguing it in real life and on paper.

4. The issue matters to a lot of people, parents, children, future generations of gamers. I dont want my kids to have less chance at experiencing the same things i did growing up, *Sheltered*

For my 2nd essay topic I am doing if technology is good or bad for society.

  • Technology is all around us and I am writing about things that we use everyday so I think I have a good understanding of the topic.
  • I can present it to readers and explain my point of view.
  • Yes I want to know more about what other people point of view is on modern technology in society.
  • The issue matters to everyone because it affects everyday life for mostly everyone.

My topic will be society’s dependence on technology, technology in the classroom, etc.

I am honestly just confused. I can’t even find my options to pick from on this thing…

The topic i chose was, topic number 2.

1) Yes I know enough about this issue, and can learn what i need to know in the time remaining.

2) Yes I do understand what the topic is asking enough to present it to my readers.

3) To get others opinions about the topic, yes it is necessary to ask.

4) This topic is a common topic brought up in many ways. Through media itself.

I liked it!  when i write papers i need second and third opinions, if i just write it myself i miss so many things, though sometime it is hard to find a student good at it, so its kind of luck of the draw but atleast i got two chances.

I enjoyed getting feedback from other people because ultimately you are catering to your audience and peer review is audience. It is nice to get feedback from your audience before you make your final draft.

I don’t like reviewing someone elses paper when its their opinion about something. Especially when its about something they feel strongly about and that I might feel a different way. But at the same time I feel like if its a persuasive paper it comes it handy because if you can change the persons who is reviewing it then thats a  good thing.

I learned a lot from the class peer review. It gave me a bunch of ideas on how to fix my paper and how to help out others also. I also prefer commenting on hard copy papers anyway.

I think peer review is a beneficial process for everyone involved. You can help your peers create a better paper, and you can get a better idea of where you are at with your own paper. Compliments can be reinforcing, and critiques can create a better paper.

I liked the pure review a lot. It helped me see how other people write and their techniques and styles of writing. This could potentially help me with my writing. It also helps everyone out with writing a better paper.

I quite enjoy reviewing my peers. I believe it is both helpful for the writer as well as the reader. It is interesting to hear/read what those besides the professor, think about your ideas and arguments, and receive their feedback and suggestions. Very well.

I enjoy reading other writers papers, it helps me get an understanding and possibly even use their type of strategy of writing. I also will use the critiques from the person who evaluated my paper.

I think peer review is a great thing. I like getting feedback from others, it can help to make my paper better. I also liked seeing the writing styles of others and how they brought about their topic.

I thought it was helpful.  Morgan gave me some good tips on how to phraze things and helped me with my grammer.

I liked peer editing because it gives you a different perspective about different situations and it gives you a chance to see how other people write and can give you tips on how you can improve your writing.

I enjoyed doing the peer review because its nice to see what others are writing about. Its interesting to see where people stand on different topics. Also I like being able to get feedback on my essay from someone my age and in the same situation I’m in.
