Iphone VS Android

Just as the battle between the Iphone cult and Android users started to heat up, Instagram announced that Android users could use the popular app. On April 3rd 2012, Instagram was released to Android users and now has more than 80 million users worldwide, growing by an average of 10 million users per month. When the app was released to android, Iphone users didn’t welcome them with open arms. There was a battle about which phone was better and Instagram was considered a luxury to those who had an Iphone or any other apple product. The emoji app didn’t help things either. Iphone users can share these emoji’s to iphone users but Android users see these characters as boxes. When the app was released to android users, they signed up like crazy because they were eager to join the social network to see what they were missing. I remember Iphone users being mad and refusing to add any android user. I also remember there were some instagram malfunctions and Iphone users blamed it on Android users. The materialism in it all is sickening. I refused to sign up for instagram until recently because I disagreed with the materialistic views of the app. Apparently, android users “couldn’t afford the Iphone, and that the app was for people who could?” and I just did not agree. As a member of team android, I paid over 400 dollars for my phone but why did it matter? I believe that our generation is obsessed with material things and I just couldn’t stand to join a social network based on those reasons. As the fight started to die down, I signed up and I love it! I love being able to share pictures with my peers while showing creativity and style. Although there is still a “beef” between iphone and android users, we are all learning to coexist.
